Indian Ocean Drive, drives me nuts
September 25th, 2010 by Rona ChieraIn Saturdays West Australian, the City of Geraldton is taking on a bold new branding approach to tourism. A completely fresh brand and identity was needed to see their vision with
With their destination brand come to life. There is an entire booklet
today’s saturdays West Australian newspaper. I am amazed at our own regions acceptance to changes in tourism, that with today’s climate of tourism, we are not keeping up with the pace. The City of Geraldton has taken
over the tourism of Geraldton, management of tourism in Their region.Congratulations, this is a today’s approach to being recognized as a great destination for visitors. So many
other regions are adapting to change
just like ,Albany and now Geraldton. I am loving the open community contact
that Dandaragan Shire are showing to
their visitors and their local community. What would you like to see the Shire of Gingin do in terms of tourism in the Moore River region? Would you enjoy a job in a local tourism business, between the hours of 10-2 and still tend to your family? If you don’t become opinionated and have a voice in the positives of tourism in our region, we enjoy becoming a thouroughfare for traffic heading along the Indian Ocean Drive. I’m positively opinionated, so come join me in conversation.
Indian Ocean Drive brings growth
September 23rd, 2010 by Rona ChieraCommunities along Western Australia’s coastline welcome the opening of a new road linking coastal towns with Perth.
The final stretch of Indian Ocean Drive is now open to traffic, allowing motorists an uninterrupted sealed coastal route from Perth to Dongara.
The Indian Ocean Drive will enhance future developments towns along the coast. Indian Ocean Drive itself is now open. This last stage represents really the first time that the Indian Ocean Drive has been able to reach its full potential as a through route from Perth, so I think from this point forward it will be a significant driver for the growth of our coastal areas. from Guilderton, Lancelin, Cervantes to Dongara

September 20th, 2010 by Rona ChieraVery excited about the opening of the Indian Ocean Drive. On the way home from cleaning our Moore River Holiday home we were surprised to see an influx of cars on the newly opened Indian Ocean Drive. 9 cars heading north and 5 cars returning..usually we head home from the Moore River region, with virtually no car in sight. Well done mainroads for giving the Dandaragan and Moore River region In Gingin, a breath of fresh air and life through these glorious regions.
Indian Ocean Drive offical opening
September 15th, 2010 by Rona ChieraAfter many years of planning and more than two years of construction, the Lancelin-Cervantes Stage 2 Project Team is proud to announce that the much anticipated Lancelin to Cervantes section of Indian Ocean Drive will be officially opened on Sunday 19 September in the Moore River region and will be open to traffic from 3.00 pm on that day.
With the assistance of favourable winter weather, construction has been able to continue at an accelerated pace and as a result, the road will be completed approximately nine months ahead of schedule.
The final product is a testament to all who have been involved and there is no doubt that the road will be very much appreciated by local communities and tourists.
It is important to note however, that the road will remain closed to general traffic whilst minor works continue to operate up to the official opening date.
We would like to thank the general public for their support and patience during the road construction and we request your continued cooperation in using current/existing routes until after 3.00 pm Sunday 19 September 2010.
Please note that work on upgrading the old Pinnacles Drive (south of Cervantes) will continue until the end of October 2010. Motorists in the area should exercise care whilst works are in progress. Happy travelling!
