The Moore River Olive Association has been going for over 10 years and it was sad to see this association fold at their last AGM in August 2010. The Moore River Olive Association invested their time and energy into building our region into the Moore River Olive region that you see up here today. I personally believe the marketing, romance and the health of the olives truly sparked some great investments and meeting of some fabulous people in our area. The Moore River region is so under valued in terms of what we have to offer in the region naturally. Visit, relax and enjoy more of who YOU are today in the Shire of Gingin.

Friday 6th August 2010, my daughter Isabella tested negative to the “Olive tree” allergen. She has finally outgrown one of the many allergies she endures. We could go near olive trees, but she could never touch them. Years ago we gave the girls, Olive Leaf Extract, and they both had an allergic reaction to it. I am married to an Italian man so so can see the importance of the olive in our family. Preparing foods with pure olive oil never affected her, just the leaf, but canola oil disrupts her wellbeing! Go figure that one out. We only use olive oil in our house. I couldn’t imagine being allergic to the Moore River region-the largest Olive producing region in Western Australia and where our holiday home is located.

Moore River olives continues to cover ground in the Moore River region, just one hour north of Perth. Olives in the Moore River region equate to 70% of Western Australias olives produced. All of our olives are freshly picked, then cold pressed into EVOO extra virgin olive oil. Other olives are made into spreads, tapenades and edibles. Moore River Holidays activity watch says to contact the Moore River Olive Assoc growers contacts first, before heading up to any farm gate for tasting or picking your own olives. Gingin produce now has a household name to it’s quality and local , just up the road location.
