Gingin Shire gives Small Business Development Centre $5000 in kind

To the Gingin Shire,
I’d like to personally thankyou for reading my single letter out loud to your coucillors at the meeting where you were allocating grants and funds for our community. Thank you to the Sun City News for bringing this to our attention.
I appreciate the effort that it takes to run the Gingin Shire and the total land mass your team has to look after. Thank you for acknowledging my letter and granting our Small Business Development Centre an in kind grant of $5000.
What may seem like different areas only recieve small amounts of money and grants, but in actual fact I look at grants with a totally different set of eyes. I see the opportunity of a small grant given, with a greater scope for creativity. By building unique events for our Gingin Shire on a shoestring and committing to networking groups is what comes with working within a limited budget, together we need to think differently. Gingin is the heart of the Moore River region and has really earned its heart medal with a community like this. My wish is for the Gingin Shire to grab tourism with two hands and tell us the direction you see us heading as I am feeling somewhat squashed and stiffled, I wouldn’t hang around if I couldn’t see the potential. But if I decide that I no longer can be a committee member of Gingin Tourism, let me tell you, I will never give in on something that I can see the potential for. If I can see my daughter go through a nut allergy and come out the other with bells and whistles, this is the same strength, courage and commitment I will give to my community and love for tourism. You may only see that a single letter sent was sent to the Gingin Shire, but my community made me do it! They believe in me to make the right choices for the greater community and I will always uphold in that belief.

Dear Gingin Shire, I support a grant for Small Business Centre in Lancelin.

Dear Gingin Shire, I support a grant for Small Business Centre in Lancelin.
Dear Gingin Shire & Councilors,
Over the weekend 24th July 2011, I read an article in the “Sun City News” that our Small Business Centre in Lancelin may not see any funding from the Gingin Shire.
I may be only one person putting forward a comment in favour of the Small Business Centre receiving a grant, but I know, feel and see the difference this centre has made for many of us in the Gingin Shire.
Tourism is a strange piece to accurately measure: Our foods and wines coupled with accommodation, provide employment and a place to go for our locals. Tourism pulls together business, opportunities for farmers, butchers, chemists, local tradesman, our housewives, seniors and the children of our community. I would like to see my Gingin Shire treat the grant they give to the Small Business Centre as a bank where their money will earn interest in the people of the Gingin Shire.
Overtime, I know with the knowledge of the SBC, I can build a valuable asset for our visitors and community to use, further their education, stay and engage in the growth of our shire.
The SBC runs a marathon that has an unstoppable strategy for the long run. I trust the information and community building initiatives that come from the Small Business Development for the future employment and farming of our communities.
Thank you kindly

Fini Olives now OPEN

Moore River Holidays partners with other businesses in the Moore River region so we can keep our visitors and guests updated to the best activities to see. Got a call that Fini Olives is now open. My first contact with Fini Olives was with Rayana. Her enthusiam was A1 and what I love to hear is ” how did you hear about us”. One of the most important questions they could ask. An advert in the Sun City News. I absolutely loved my trip to Fini Olives and my kids devoured the olive oil tasting plates and we walked away loaded with caps, tshirts and bottles of Fini Olive oil. Fini oozes the buy local story and backs this up vigoursly when you walk into their cellar. Get out there today. Open from Fridays to Tuesdays.

The Sun City News are local legends

The Sun City News editor, Terry Loftus, issues are getting bigger and more local. Not sure if Terry realises that his newspaper oozes local stories and the communities are thankful for exposure for their fundraising events. Sun City News is calling for at least 50 local articles and 20 local photos in every issue within the next few months. See your next event in print by emailing editor@suncitynews.com.au.
