Love the Sculpture by the sea art at Cottesloe beach that has warning signs all over it saying “we do not trust you to use your commonsense”. Lancelin is home of the Lancelin Ocean Classic and if kite and windsurfing is your sport, well come on down. With the Moore River region only being one hour north of Perth, you’re welcome to enjoy our Indian Ocean coastline, like you did 30 years ago. That’s the beauty of the Moore River region, we are filled with family and real fun moments…. Love the memories that our visitors remind us about. I am more in love with the Moore River region everyday.

The Self Drive capital of Western Australia starts on Indian Ocean Drive. The Indian Ocean Drive will show you the coastal essence of Western Australia – the narrow beachy, sun-bleached strip of the Turquoise Coast and the Coral Coast. Starts in the heart of the Moore River region, just one hour north of Perth, Gingin.
This takes us from Cervantes to Jurien Bay up to Ningaloo, the world’s biggest fringing reef.
But, early on in the trip north, there is the Pinnacles at Nambung National Park – thousands of limestone pillars rising out of the yellow sand. Some pinnacles rise up to 3.5m. Some are like tombstones. Composed of seashells in an earlier epoch rich in marine life, they may have taken thousands of years to form but were exposed only a few hundred years ago.

I received a phone call on Sunday from a girlfriend who has a holiday house in Green Heads. After ringing Main Roads to see if the Indian Ocean Drive was open. The Main Roads representative said it not open but ahead of schedule and the only day our workmen don’t work is Sunday. Well on Sunday, what did my friends do? They drove home on the Indian Ocean Drive and enjoyed the spectactular ocean views of the Indian Ocean. It is important to know that if you have an accident on a closed road, you are not covered by insurance. Is the saving of 45 mins really worth the risk?
