Dear Gingin Shire, I support a grant for Small Business Centre in Lancelin.
Dear Gingin Shire & Councilors,
Over the weekend 24th July 2011, I read an article in the “Sun City News” that our Small Business Centre in Lancelin may not see any funding from the Gingin Shire.
I may be only one person putting forward a comment in favour of the Small Business Centre receiving a grant, but I know, feel and see the difference this centre has made for many of us in the Gingin Shire.
Tourism is a strange piece to accurately measure: Our foods and wines coupled with accommodation, provide employment and a place to go for our locals. Tourism pulls together business, opportunities for farmers, butchers, chemists, local tradesman, our housewives, seniors and the children of our community. I would like to see my Gingin Shire treat the grant they give to the Small Business Centre as a bank where their money will earn interest in the people of the Gingin Shire.
Overtime, I know with the knowledge of the SBC, I can build a valuable asset for our visitors and community to use, further their education, stay and engage in the growth of our shire.
The SBC runs a marathon that has an unstoppable strategy for the long run. I trust the information and community building initiatives that come from the Small Business Development for the future employment and farming of our communities.
Thank you kindly
Rona Chiera

In Gingin and the Moore River Region we work hard behind the scenes to win your hospitality. Together our accommodation provider use one of Australia’s greatest accommodation website called TakeABreak. This year we have 3 of our accommodation hosts winning national awards. They are Moore River Cottages, and Woollybush Guest House B&B. Congratulation to our local accommodation providers. With your commitment to excellence for your guests, we can only see our region grow in strength.

So what more can I expect from my Propolis from West Coast Honey.
Well, I am publicly documenting my Propolis use on my daughter Isabella. Today is day 7 and I am in love with the results that I see happening with Isabella’s Granuloma annulare episode and my belief in Propolis. Isabella jumped into my bed this morning so I could scratch her back and she says they do not feel sore and angry, they are almost like they dying and forming a scab, that is just flaking away. I am photographing every step of the way, annoying Mummy syndrome, so on Friday night 22/10/10, Isabella ran to bed and refused her nightly Propolis intake. So we have missed just one night. I initially spent money on an anti fungal cream, an athletes foot style of cream, and a script that didn’t allow Isabella to be exposed to the sun for 2 years. How can I continue on this path for my child? Please remember that it is working for us and Propolis may in fact work for you also, but remember, that Propolis is a natural product and allergic reactions may occur, so test it first. Having a highly allergic child, always try new products during the day, ensure you have anti histimines and in case a reaction does happen, chemists, doctors and hospitals are usually fully staffed.
So what is your story? Tell us what great things have you experienced from Propolis?
Write in or visit West Coast Honey in the Moore River region, Gingin and tell them your story and get your supplies from our honey bees. What more could you want in your medicine cupboard, jarrah honey and Propolis.
Will keep you updated in another 7 days.

Gingin Observatory should feel spaced out about becoming finalists in the Tourism Council WA Awards. Knowing how hard Carol, Donna and their team work to create an out of this world experience for you at the Gingin Observatory, we ought to congratulate them.
Gingin Observatory was announced as a finalist in the Tourist Attractions category of the 2010 Western Australian Tourism Awards last night. All the Gingin Observatory staff attended the event to celebrate this wonderful achievement and to be recognised as one of the top attractions in the WA tourism industry, right here in Gingin. The Gingin Observatory is located on the same property as the Gravity Discovery Centre. Science is so cool!
Just one hour north of Perth in the Moore River region.

Last night I saw the heart of Gingin working at its best.
Our meeting, our AGM, our ability to network and show a united front for all to see
What was interesting to me as the junior in the team, was to see us all swap roles and feel good about the changes as we are all contributing to the vision of tourism, and thank you Norm Skoglund for taking on my role, the buzz in the room was awesome.
Thank you for allowing me to take on a committee role, whilst Cosi and I build our promise to our daughter on our farm.
I saw your hearts, soul, dedication and commitment to our tourism brand last night therefore you have earned the right to be named the “ heart of Gingin “ for our tourism precinct, and you all know, I hate the words coast to country and the dividing words they represent. Seeing guests from Wanneroo, Chittering and Dandaragan, you are really in the heart of it all!
Everything we do in Gingin has heart, from our history, heritage and harvest etc
Congratulations on living the brand, tourism team

As I was enjoying my glorious lunch at CU@Park today I was observing the large group beside me as they were heading to West Coast Honey on their way back to the Guilderton Caravan Park. What was fantastic about this group is that Anastas Sharrin, is a Perth local that is showing our Moore River region for us. Anastas Sharrin owns his own business, commutes here to do business and Brings his family to enjoy the Moore River region. What an awesome ambassador I was listening to in one of our local Perth residents. Thank you, Anastas Sharrin for sharing your story of your experience in the Moore River region with me.

If time is on your side with traveling to the north of Western Australia to see our abundance of natural beauty, be sure to use the Indian Ocean Drive to head north, this will ensure it takes time off your travel. Heading back from your self drive north, be sure to travel along our great wildflower Hwy route, the Brand Hwy. The Moore River region, boasts the best of both worlds. The coast and the country, from Guilderton to Gingin and Lancelin. Let’s see more of you.

Very excited about the opening of the Indian Ocean Drive. On the way home from cleaning our Moore River Holiday home we were surprised to see an influx of cars on the newly opened Indian Ocean Drive. 9 cars heading north and 5 cars returning..usually we head home from the Moore River region, with virtually no car in sight. Well done mainroads for giving the Dandaragan and Moore River region In Gingin, a breath of fresh air and life through these glorious regions.

What’s with the name? The Gingin Coast Tourism Association are embracing our region as the Moore River region instead of Gingin Coast to Country. Why? Some ask-I cannot see the Moore River region on any map? The Moore River is not a suburb name. The Moore River flows through many neighbouring shires. The locals know where the Moore River region is but may not know where Muckenburra is, which is actually a suburb within the Moore River region. Muckenburra is one of the most perfect spots to select accommodation when choosing to do stargazing at the Gingin Observatory and visiting Gingin Gravity Discovery Centre. Neergabby is home of a group of amazing volunteers who offer visitors and locals awesome events. Neergabby’s accommodation hosts are right next door to the Gingin Observatory and the GDC. What about Regans Ford? Locals have never heard of some of our suburbs, including Gabbadah so we are uniting our region and bringing together our great suburbs under one recognisable brand. The “Moore River region” brand.
Just like the Margaret River brand, together with united locals, businesses and growers they have created a memorable brand that is now internationally recognised and some of their unknown towns have become overwhelmingly recognisable. How about Cowaramup? Home of the Candy Cow. Come join our GGTA tourism group for some local FREE REANGE thinking. The story with Muckenburra is that I came across Muckenburra on my GPS and I ignored where the GPS told me to go and when I got to one of my tourism meetings I told them my GPS said go to Muckenburra and I thought my GPS was mucking me about. Now if I don’t know where Muckenburra is so neither do our visitors and other locals.
